GAYNDAH APRA FESTIVAL RODEO 2013

Stock from Brian King, Destiny Downs and Kerry Hall won out at the Orange Festival, putting a majority of the riders out of the cash. Drizzle had the crowd looking for shelter and changed the programme
when horses were unable to gain traction in the timed events. Some events were short competitors, but overall good performances had the crowd cheering. It was good to see the rodeo back in action.

TEEBAR RODEO 2013 …. AFTER THE FLOODS

And the winner is … TEEBAR. After the floods,The locals came out in force for the annual show and rodeo. The day was a bit blustery. All except for a couple of toughies were rugged up against the wind.
Hall Rodeo supplied the stock, Bill Urquart was the man in the know. The rodeo was kept rockin with some of the best rodeo mix i’ve heard in a long time. Kerry Hall was good at Gayndah
but Mal Brown of RadioActive was the best, and “rang dem bells” The Bulls and Horses rocked while the riders bit the dust.

GAYNDAH SILVER WHIP CAMPDRAFT 2013

With numbers up the Draft got a early start on Friday, and continued to roll along over the weekend. The extra lights were used to cut the fog in thecamp inthe morning.
Moist air from showers created a foggy start on Saturday. Sections of the competition were tight, with some competitors completing 4 or 5 good runs.

KRAGRA CAMPDRAFT 2013

All gathered at the old school ground for the campdraft. The sportsground came alive with dads, mums, kids and grand kids and lots of horses – a real family affair. Kragra started off hot but the shower of rain after midday cooled things off. The beasts won the finals, with a majority of riders getting cracked. Things are looking good for next year with improvements to facilities in the wind. The committee greatly appreciated the support of their sponsors who themselves have suffered during the recent disasters. Wade Knudsen picked up the Maiden Draft while Michael Hayes won the novice.

GYMPIE RODEO 2013

A large crowd arrived for the postponed rodeo. A delay, lacklustre music and a slippery track noticable for the barrels, not so the bulls and horses. The riders handled themselves well for the conditions.
Stock was from Clint Harris, Dean Weller and Hall rodeo. Ray West and Gabe Wood handled the protection for the cowboys.

GUNDALDA NBHA 24/03/13

Gunlalda bared it all. It was a day of encouragement, support and camaraderie for the barrels and poles at Gunalda (some were very vocal). An excellent viewing arena.
Weather was hot and the track was dry and not slippery – what a difference 20 km makes. A family fun day. The young riders did well
but lacked a bit of oomph from their leaders. Times were down a bit in the bareback barrels. Some riders picked up xtra speed from the bacon, egg, cheese and onion burgers.

17/01/13

As I found out before the Chinchilla Melon Rodeo is going to be big. Some committee are
bringing in cameras and a big screen from Brisbane for the Melon Festival Week-end. So they’ll cover the rodeo with action replays. Oh to win gold lotto.
so it looks like Gympie for me that Saturday, with a run to Gunalda on sunday for the barrel racing.
Haven’t got any details of events and stock yet.
The sports get more coverage.

16/01/13

Well it looks like there will be plenty of barrel racing going on around with the NBHA running a
Section 2 out of Gunalda and coming up to Cordalba, Dallarnil, Jandowae and Nanango.
There will be barrels at the rodeos ,plus the speed2speed events and the Burnett Barrel Racers
working out of Monto. A busy year.

10/01/13

Goomeri was a big event with numerous riders. I had acouple of technical probs soI didnt get to video the utes or transmit to my tv at the bar … was getting interference. Have tested my gear and it seems to be ok.
Chinchilla looks to be a big event… $5000 bull ride and $300 for the saddle broncs,
$1500 for the bares and $1000 for the barrels. And they’re organised an outfit for having big screen action replays. That would be good to see.
So i’ll go to Gympie. THe NRA are having an event…no details yet.
QRA have an event for Taroom on the 23 of Feb, but i want to get to Bell to show previous rodeos and games on the Saturday night. They make a local day at the rodeo with the Iron Man & Woman, Piggy Back Races and calf scramble

Some are interested in watching tthe days action while winding down and having a chat.
I’ll try to do the same at the Kragra Campdraft too.
Don’t know what the story will be for the ACA Finals at Kilkivan yet.
Also whats going on for the footy season ? Where & when will the 47th Batt be ?

and the Agrotrend Challenge is going to under cover.

The NRA final to be in Dalby ?
I’ve put a list of events that i might get to .
If there are any of particular interest let me know.
I’m going to have to change my despatch policy… cash before delivery.
Besides mobile phones some people are using i-pads. Curious to see what the video turns out like.

GOOMERI NEW YEARS EVE RODEO 2012

Biggest fields i’ve seen in the last couple of years. Large crowd but they didn’t seem enthusiastic. Lots of campers.Hot rides in the bares, with Dinny Moran getting a 75,
while the poddy riders were flying by the seats of their pants. Jeff Moretto stayed on for a 81 in the bulls and Alan knox weny a 11.25 in the rope & tie.
Steers put on the brakes, leaving the wrestlers grabbing at the air.Cheyenne Whitwell is getting good results with her horse.

MUNDUBBERA RODEO 2012

Snow Timms bought some of the big boys toys to Mundubbera for Dan Weedon to play with. Bulls and horses won the majority of the bouts, with Dick Peterkin and Greg Hamilton on top in their events. Karl Ware had another win after Dallarnil. Jane Clarke was back for another win after Mulgildie, and Amanda Hair showed mum knows best. Anthony Ellem had a win in preparation for the Chinchilla Melon Festival
The boys put on a show for a couple of German tourists, and ringmaster Dan Staines said that they could keep the bull and any cowboy they caught that jumped the fence. Other members of the team were Rick Knudsen horses and Matt Bunn and Kevin Purcell. Irish Dan gave Pat Staines a dancing lesson.

DALLARNIL RODEO 17/11/12

As usual a good crowd was on hand for the Dallarnil Rodeo.Senior competitors were down (probably on holidays.)
Younger competitors kept the crowd entertained.
It was different with the team penners – over 120 teams.
Brian King’s bulls, Ray West & Bryce Cobin were the protection, Lenny Jansen provided the commentary
while Larry Cann tried on the steers for size

APPLE TREE CREEK RODEO 2012

The crowd built up for what ended up being a family affair rodeo… mum, dad, brothers and sisters all taking part. No bares and bull riders were light on, but the timed events held the crowds attention.
Barrel racers found the track loose with horses unable to get traction going round the barrels. Steer wrestlers definitely had their hands full. Saddle bronc riders were mostly able to retain their seats,
but the feature bull “Cochise” left an indelible mark on his unwary victim. The crowd got behind the juniors and the locals and showed their appreciation.Horses were Rick Knudsen and
bulls were from the Roundabout Rodeo Co.

The Goss

10/01/13 BAD JUDGEMENT.

26/11/12. I’ll try to keep my calendar updated. but things are looking good for Goomeri New Years Eve,
Gympie in February, Chinchilla Melon Festival, Bell in early March, and April is busy with the Kragra Camp, Gayndah Show, and the A.C.A. Campdraft finals at Kilkivan.
I have been told no Rodeo/Campdraft for Eidsvold this year… Easter weekend.

26/11/12 Well the Dallarnil has come and the Mundubbera Bullarama is on this weekend. Lets hope there is more interest.
Team penning seems to be taking over from rodeo if the line up at Dallarnil Rodeo is occuring at other events.
According to my calendars, the only other rodeo on was the N.R.A. Finals at Ipswich. There was over 120 teams in the penning while I did not recognise any big names in the rodeo side of things. What is the future of Rodeo for these small organisations ? What is needed to attract big names. Also what is the future of the Q.R.A. in the Central Wide Bay area. From what I’ve been told, the protection were from the Q.R.A.not the bull riders at Gin Gin. There was no rodeo at Gin Gin or Gayndah this year.

26/11/12…. Country Videos now appears on Facebook.

26/11/12 There is a new Barrel Racing group coming out of the Monto area…. going under the name
“Burnett Barrel Racers” at www.burnettbarrelracers.com
They also are on Facebook as Barrel Racing – Burnett & Beyond and are already organising events in 2013
check it out

25/10/12 Well the Apple Tree Creek Rodeo was on last Saturday, a good time was had by all. Bulls were Roundabout Rodeo Co. and horses Rick Knudsen. The Rodeo had a family theme both in the participants and crowd. Feature bull “Cochise” left an impression on his passenger? The Saddle broncs took the cowboys for a ride and the steers had more oomph in the steer-wrestling.

This weekend (20/10) the Apple Tree Creek Rodeo is on. Last year it was a good night with plenty of action. Both the King bulls and knudsen horses added lots of bounce to the cowboys

Mulgildie Rodeo 2012

The day was long and hot, the crowd built up to watch the events (20 down to 19). Numbers were down in the senior events.
Brian King’s Bulls and Rick Knudsen’s Horses weren’t bested on the day. Highlights were the calcutta, Champagne Ladies Steer Ride
and the Ladies Bareback Barrel Race and the Junior events.
