ATW came out on top in this game
Brothers were the winners with a score of 46 – 12 over Easts
Brothers ran out winners by 42 points – nil and stay at the top of the ladder. Easts & Burrum are in a tussle for 2nd spot.
Brothers worked efficiently and their bigger players were mobile and gained ground thru non-existent tackling. It’s back to basic training for the ATW coach. Tackling practise would be at the top of the list along with instilling confidence in the players.
After the 1st couple of tries by Brothers, ATW didn’t seem interested. Teams can be beaten. The addition of the Chinchilla group will add reserves to the team.
The outcome of this game was unexpected with the magpies winning by 18-12. Big hits slowed the forwards of both sides.
Defensive lapses in the backs by Brothers gave the magpies their chances, while the latter were ploughed over by the brothers forwards.
This first loss for the brethern opens up the opportunities in the positioning for 2 and 3 on the ladder.
This game was a disappointment in that Burrum arrived with only 10 players and cleaned up Cherbourg by 54 – 12. There was little cohesion by both sides.
Individuals made the most of their opportunities. Cherbourgh might not have played on such a hot day before and were looking for their water bottles.
I was only there for the 2nd half of the game but the players seemed to be bigger than those of Wallaroos and Murgon
It was the nippy backs of Murgon darting and diving against the big Wallaroo forwards that resulted in a 28 all draw. Muscle against agility.
A large crowd dared the onset of the weather and were appreciative of the performances by the barrel racers, poddy, steer and bull riders.
Others were to watch the horse events, woodchops, mower racers and athletics along with the displays and stalls
No one in the government has respected the culture of small communities that use this long weekend for keeping the community alive.
The Dallarnil Sports is a long standing tradition ( a full day of physical entertainment where anyone can participate ) that is accepted by the whole of the Wide Bay.
The decision to run a 2.5 day campdraft was a partial success, with the encouragement and novice not being attempted because of safety concerns. The final of the open was re-evaluated.
The pearls were worn to match the dry as a bonez. No points were awarded for the wet shirt look. Cattle seemed to react to the incoming weather.
The bugger of it all was that all left for home Sunday morning and the sky was clear and the sun was out by 11am.The ground would’ve still been too wet. The ladies had to have run offs in the cutting out and the draft too.
Here are some runs from the Open Final and LadiesSection of the Mt Perry Campdraft. The novice had a high attrition rate in getting out of the camp.
There was plenty of fellowship Saturday night. At times the dust made it difficult to see the gate. This time i couldn’t get action in the camp.
Here are some shots of the Mundubbera Show. Grand parade, show jumping, dressage,Crack Up Sisters,
Show Queen and princesses.
The rodeo was on but things were a bit higgly piggley. Costs, fuel, other expenses aren’t helping show committees to get noms in for rodeos. There was plenty of action
A couple of wood-chopping events from the Mundubbera show.

It was 2 days of hard games, played as hard as the males. Battered & bruised, the girls came back for more on Sunday after a Saturday night of “R & R”(Vodka makes the pain go away); Icepacks on arms, ankles, necks and knees. Bundaberg were winners over South-West, Capricorn & Sunshine Coast women’s teams.
Bundaberg won the game, but missed scoring with 3 man overlaps. It reminded me of mini/mod. The ball never got out to the wingers who scored by chasing play. A team is not just one player. It was hard in places with both teams suffering injuries after 2 days of battle. Final score 54 – nil
In this game it was a tight tussle with the Beewah/Sunshine Coast team gaining the advantage over the Capras. Both side played it hard.
Final score 14-6 to the Sunshine Coast
This game ended up as a 24 –all draw and wore Gladstone down for their game against Toowoomba
The Clydesdales seemed to be the least affected side against Gladstone after the 2 days of competition.
Their tries seem to come from breaks around the rucks to run out winners 26-nil.
A crowd estimated to be around 4000 started arriving at 4 for the 6.30 start to get the prime positions.
It came down to the final ride for the NRA to confirm their comeback and take the challenge from the CRCA. The poddy riders gee’ed up the crowd for the restof the events of the night.
The first ride, fast time in the barrels had the following riders playing catch-up while in the bareback, last out picked up the money.
Matty Makinson will need beam practise for the back somersault dismount.
