The Dallarnil Sports Day is a unique day in Wide Bay. For the past 91 years,on the Queens birthday the community of Dallarnil have gathered and invited others to partake in the sporting events. From pony club to woodchops,barrel racing,stationary motors, stalls,foot-races, steer rides,rides and mower races this and more is at Dallarnil for spectators and participants
This is some of the activity at the Gayndah Orange Festival on Saturday. Despite being a bleak drizzly day a good crowd were on hand for the parade. Street activities were cut short due to electrical problems but the action continued at the pubs. The races were on and the rodeo and football are part of tomorrow's activities

dear diary update
Coming up :- looks like we won’t make it to Miriam Vale for the rodeo. There is a lead-up football game to the “STATE OF ORANGES” on that weekend in Mundubbera.
The weekend after that is the Silverwhip Campdraft in Gayndah over 2 days.
Then it’s time for the Orange Festival with the Wine & Cheese on Friday night, procession Saturday, APRA RODEO Sunday, with the football starting before the rodeo finishes. With luck we should do a replay of the rodeo in the hall as usual after the footy finishes.
Then its off to Dallarnil for the sports day and the QRA rodeo
At this stage by my calendar my next away rodeo will be MT PERRY.

Tori Darke…delicious, Larry Cann…..out of breath, Pink is the New Black, Brian Duggan Bulls…..vicious, CMC horses…..high flyers going shake rattle and roll and the limestone cowboy had the kids and mothers laughing. The 3500 in the crowd certainly got their money’s worth and were entertained from the poddy rides, barrel races right through to the bulls.Using Larry’s term of hamburger – there was no hamburger in the arena, but they were trying their best to make mince meat of the riders. The new siting looks good for future expansion and the area allowed the broncs to wind up.
With the Orange Festival coming up in June at Gayndah I dug up some footage from 1998.

Monto show was busy for the Easter Weekend and these are a couple of things that occurred
A couple of the rides rides from the Monto Show.Stock was from Brian Duggan and protection fighters Ryan Ibbotson & Dean Berry had to get into the action. Being Easter I think the senior riders were down, but that didn’t detract from the action on the night. “Soundwaves” had the big crowd rocking on the hill and in the stand
On an overcast day these are some of the activities at the Mt. Perry Show that ran into the night
There was a gathering at the Perry when word got out that Ol Dinga was having a bbq the next day.
29 axes turned up with shiny blades as good as cut-throats to get the chips and firewood. In their singlets and shirts there was the long and short, young and old, thick and thin. They sliced and diced, huffed & puffed, and raised a sweat to gather the wood.

This is a 2 man event where each man is to cut half of a 15″ standing block at the Gayndah Show 2011. Good for exercise.
Tree climbing started in Victoria when the timber cutters had to get to the good timber that was above the bohls around the base of the trees. A very physical event that was on display at the Gayndah show
Well this year is off to a good start.
I have been able to get to the Chinchilla Melon rodeo, Bell Show Rodeo, and now the Eidsvold Rodeo.
Will be trying for the Monto CRCA Rodeo at the show possibly followed by Mt Morgan then the Agrotrend Challenge.
So that all for now
Despite the cancellation of the Campdraft a good crowd turned up to watch the annual rodeo. Also a large contingent of riders were on hand to provide the thrills and the bulls put on the show and spills.
A couple of bulls went walkabout but that didn’t detract from action put on by Matt Postle and Brian Kings Beasts. And there were a couple of Beasts that kept Protection Guards Darryl Chong and Jarrod Maguera on their toes.
Ringmaster Larry Cann relived his days of past times in Eidsvold.
ON reviewing the 97 tape, one beast – Red Dirt Road attacked and exited the shutes like a one horned Monster called Deep Creek.
The poddy’s from the Ward Family started the juniors off on their rodeo learning curve. And Gavin Ford’s Dexter turned from quiet as a lamb to a raging, twisting, bouncing “Ferdinand”
Matt Postle and Brian Kings bulls had the upper hoof over the riders at Eidsvold on Friday night. Larry Cann was the ringmaster, with Danny Chong and Jarrod Maguera acting as protection for the riders. Even a little Dexter and a teacher got into the action.
Some action from the 2011 Bell Rodeo. Snowy Timms bulls and Halls broncs. The bulls and broncs won; plenty of cowboys bit the dust.
Some music for the bulls to listen to ‘i wanna go home.’ ‘don’t fence me in’ ‘we gotta get out of this place’ home home on the range’ ‘who let the dogs out’ cause the bulls just wanted to stay in the arena.
